The Law Firm was started in 1997 by John Y. Song who opted to go solo after years of experience in government, public interest, and several prominent private firms.   Our firm strives to provide quality and affordable legal represenation for all the legal needs of the small to mid-size business, including Business Litigation, Real Estate, Business Purchase/Sale, Import-export Matters, Copyright and Trademark Disputes, Collections, Corporate Counsel matters, Business Formation,  and Immigration.  Many of our clients are successful, well established, and highly profitable businesses who conduct business throughout the world.

We are a seasoned litigation firm with extensive trial experience;  the firm has had much success, and still has  success, in working with, and litigating against some of the largest and most highly regarded law firms. Several cases involved opposing counsels who were named "Attorneys of the year", Ex-District Attorneys,  Ex-judges, etc.

Since the firm represents both plaintiff and defense, this enhances our firm's ability to understand and facilitate a more relevant and precise strategy. We pride ourselves in resolving most of our cases, but are not shy about assertively  fighting for our clients.

The firm also maintains close working relationships with some of Los Angeles' and Asia's premier law firms.  Our firm also has had a long and close working relationship with many to elected leaders in government, business, and law throughout several key Asian countries -- notably, South Korea, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The firm also serves as corporate counsel to several highly regarded manufacturers and service providers.

What's New?

• A complex lawsuit involving Rico, fraud, unfar competition, and alter-ego claims and which sought over $1.5 million (with interest) against our clients was dismissed after serial demurrers (without trial) filed by the firm (LASC BC 423990).  
• In 5 related copyright lawsuits seeking in excess of $10 million against the firm's client,  the firm successfully defended and settled the case for $500 after 1.5 years of litigation. (SACV09-01301 CJC (ANx) et. al)
• The firm recently prevailed in an extensively and  heavily litigated dispute by two factions over the control of a church and its property valued at about $2 million. (O.C. Sup. Ct  07 CC 12609)
• A partnership dispute involving a large web retailer resulted in our client receiving $1.6 million  after mediation (Case Confidential)
• The Firm obtained a Probate Order permitting the disrbursement to client probate assets valued at nearly $20 million.  
• In a contentious  trade dispute, the firm defended against a claim for $1.5 million directed against the firm's clients -- large Chinese sock manufacturer / wholesaler. The case was resolved in our clients' favor a week prior to trial for $750,000 dollars payable to our client. (case identity subject to confidentiality clause) 
• In a bitter partnership Dispute (LASC YC 052021, ADR Case 065615-LCW), the firm obtained (1) $50,000 punitive damages against a partner; and (2) over $150,000 for damages, emotional distress, and costs; (3) half the proceeds of a jointly held real estate; (4) and a mandatory injunction. 
• After 2 years of "trench warfare", the firm prevailed on all causes of action against 20 defendant-franchisees represented by three law firms in the matter of (LASC VC 043084) .  After a 2 week trial, the trial Court awarded our client  in excess of $100,000 in damages; $165,000.00 in attorneys fees; and over $17,500.00 in costs.
• The Law office recently prevailed as to all causes of action in a contentious trade secrets dispute, including copyright, trade secrets, slander/libel. The firm  obtained damages and  puntiive damages at an arbitration (LASC BC 312 407, ADR 05-4836-lwc)..
